About the Contest
The EAFA contest encourages students from all grades to interpret an environmental theme using different mediums and their own artistic expresson. The students, through creating art, have the opportunity to learn about environmental issues that affect Albertans.
Contest Rules
- Participants must live in and attend a school in Alberta
- All submissions must convey a positive message
- All Grades: Original Art Only
- Limit of one entry per person
Deadline
Submissions must be postmarked NO later than (Contest Postponed – New Date in September)
Entries received after the deadline will NOT be considered.
Judging
Submissions will be judged on originality, composition, quality and relevance to the theme.

Prizes
The top three entries in each grade category (grades 4-6 (poster), 7-9 & 10-12 (photo category & art category) will receive the following as a prize:
1st Place: $500 RESP Contribution
2nd Place: $250 RESP Contribution
3rd Place: $100 RESP Contribution
The schools of each of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each grade category (grades 4-6, 7-9, 10-12) will also receive a matching donation to be used where they see fit in the following areas: hot lunch program, recycling program, art or science program.
Grade 4-6 School Participation Prize
The Environmental Artworks Foundation of Alberta will organize and host a presentation by Brian Keating from Going Wild, at the school with the highest participation in the Grade 4-6 category. Students from all grades at the winning school can attend the presentation.
Prizes must be claimed by no later than December 31st, 2020.
2020 Theme
The 2020 theme is “Changing Seasons”. Capture the wealth of natural beauty by highlighting the changing seasons. Art is encouraged to display nature’s four seasons: spring, summer, autumn and/or winter and capture the mood of the seasons.
